The Central Department of Economics (CEDECON), Tribhuvan University, takes this opportunity to congratulate all its graduates who were conferred with the degree of Master’s of Arts in Economics (MA in Economics) during the 49th convocation organized by Tribhuvan University on the day of Poush 2, 2080, in Kathmandu, Nepal. We wish all the graduates a very fruitful journey ahead.

The Department also takes pleasure to congratulate Kapil Pokharel, a bona fide student of CEDECON, who was conferred with three gold medals: the Tarapad Chaudhuri Medal, Khagendra Man Singh Medal, and Chandra Raj Dhungel Medal in the convocation program.

Kapil was provided with several research, training, and teaching-related opportunities during his study at CEDECON, as well as a grant to write his thesis. He served as a Research Assistant in the mid-term evaluation of the 15th plan of Nepal (National Planning Commission), a COVID-19-related study (University Grants Commission), and the reclassification of capital expenditure (Ministry of Finance). Likewise, he participated in several workshops and training sessions conducted by CEDECON. He became a Certified Trainer through a rigorous evaluation process by the International Trade Centre (ITC). This training related to market analysis was facilitated by CEDECON. He also had the opportunity to participate in a week-long residential block course in energy economics and policy, jointly organized by CEDECON and the Centre for Energy Policy and Economics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (CEPE-ETH). Besides, he presented two research papers. The first one was presented at the 16th South Asian Economics Students Meet (SAESM) in the year 2020, and the second one in the 3rd Graduate Student Research Panel at the Himalayan Policy Research Consortium (HPRC). He also attended CEDECON’s flagship international conference in 2022 and 2023, which it organizes annually.

We are very hopeful that the knowledge, value, and experience you received/had from CEDECON will be helpful for your academic and personal growth.
