CEDECON offers Ph. D. programme at the initiation of Dean’s Office, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, TU. The perspective students can follow two routes for enrollment in Ph D.

Course Based Ph D:  Following submission of form to Dean office upon call for applications to Ph D program, the perspective studnet need to appear at an entrance examination. After passing entrace examination, students can be enrolled to Ph D program. Students will then have to take core courses and researh methods in Economics during their first two semester. Students are expected to develop a preliminary proposal during their second semester. Students are expected to prepare reading list and finalize their proposal in third semester. After sucessful defence of thier proposal, students will start working on their dissertation. The sus-sequent time for completion for dissertation will depend upon students progress.

M Phil leading to Ph D: Students having M Phil degree will be waved from taking core courses and research methods in Economics. They can directly submit the proposal to Dean office and upon sucessful defence of proposal, they can start working on thier Ph D dissertation.

History of Ph D program at Department

The in -country Ph. D. programme was initiated in TU since 1966 but remained very limited in number. However, with the passage of time, due to popularity of this area, more than two dozen and half economists have been awarded Ph. D. degree from TU till date. The candidate with at least second-class master’s degree in economics is eligible to apply for Ph. D. programme. S/he will be eligible subject to the approval of Research Committee, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, TU. Research scholars have to submit their thesis within seven years including two years grace period from the date of first registration. If failed to submit within prescribed duration has to re-register as of new candidate
