Welcome to the Central Department of Economics (CEDECON), Faculty
of Humanities and Social Science, at Tribhuvan University (TU).
CEDECON, established in 1959, is one of the oldest and biggest departments in TU’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Science. CEDECON is a pioneer in offering academic courses, promoting research, and producing high-quality economists for our nation and for the world.
Established in 1959, Central Department of Economics (CEDECON) is one of the oldest and biggest departments at Tribhuvan University (TU). Primarily a teaching faculty, the Department also undertakes research activities and publication works. With more than 120 students in MA and 35 in MPhil enrolled each semester, CEDECON is well equipped with high-level specialized faculty members recognized for their academic and professional contributions within and outside Nepal.
CEDECON organised an interaction programme with the campuses/colleges running MA in Economics programme (TU) within and outside of Kathmandu valley. The objectives were to understand the academic and research challenges and to initiate a dialogue towards streamlining teaching-learning and research exercises throughout.
Central Department of Economics organized an in-house interaction program to discuss on the methodology and preliminary of estimates of a research work titled “Impact of COVID-19 in Poverty and Human Development”.
